National Parks, AZ

I love travelling alone, but I really love travelling with someone else. You're bound to compromise something, then kick yourself in the butt afterwards for being foolishly stubborn. In less masochistic terms, sometimes when you yield for another you grow as an individual.

My original cross-country itinerary didn't include Grand Canyon National Park. Looking at the pictures below -- what wasn't I thinking. I crossed it off my bucket list as a kid when I saw it from high, high, above. Thankfully, my friend bopped this old noggin' of mine, "We can't pass Arizona and not see the Grand Canyon?!"

Leaving Arizona we decided to drive through the Petrified National Forest. To be honest, I felt misled. The word "petrified" had me daydreaming of an otherworldly stone forest, instead, we walked around petrified logs that looked like rocks. Don't bypass the park though, it is beautiful in its own right because of the Painted Desert. At the very least (or most if you get your thrills like me), to hear your GPS' pronunciation of "petrified". She sounded petrified saying "petrified"...Hey, I got a kick out of it :D

One anchor, my first one! Even if I wasn't brown I wouldn't live in Arizona until they do away with their ridiculous immigration policy. This country was built by immigrants
