Hot Springs, AK

I think it's clear where my mind is these days if I'm choosing Hot Springs, AK for this week's post. Enough winter, enough. Thankfully you're showing me some mercy tomorrow because it's going to be a balmy 59 degrees. Ten away from 69. If by some miracle the thermometer reaches anywhere near that lascivious number, undoubtedly I'll saunter about like I just had an afternoon delight. Kind of like this oblivious fellow...

Downtown Hot Springs

To his credit, he had just spent a couple of hours at this spa. Most probably straight from work and his second or third time this week. Was he filthy rich to afford such a luxury? Who knows, but if I lived in Hot Springs, AK even I could afford to do the same because the hot springs inside these bathhouses are part of Hot Springs National Park -- God bless America indeed.

As we luxuriated for hours on end, I wondered about the city's most famous citizen, Bill Clinton. Could his charm and relaxed attitude be somewhat attributed to living near a street called Bathhouse Row? Difficult to contest, no?

Seven anchors. I was sold when I saw the local resident membership fees. It's comparable to my local YMCA membership minus the dorm like bathrooms and overly chlorinated pool. I'm sure the city has other favourable and not-so favourable points, but the mineral waters have this way of relaxing one's definitions... ;)
